Please Notice:

James H. Schmitz’s The Witches of Karres is scheduled to come out in July [2004], with the sequel that I wrote with Misty Lackey and Dave Freer – The Wizard of Karres – coming out the next month. Since the sequel continues directly on with the story where Schmitz left it, I realized that I needed to snippet the entirety of The Witches of Karres before I can start snippeting the sequel.

For those of you not familiar with it, Schmitz’s The Witches of Karres was published in 1966 and was a finalist for the Hugo award in 1967 – where it lost out to Heinlein’s The Moon is a Harsh Mistress. It is considered by many people, including me, to be one of the real classics of SF, and a book which is in many ways quite unique in the genre.

All text formatting errors are wholly the fault of Jim Baen and the way he delivers our fix. :-)
